Be an iron sharpener

Proverbs 27:17

As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend Proverbs 27:17...the word countenance means calm facial expression or composure...Biblically, specifically in this scripture it can mean the moral support and encouragement rendered to another that sharpens their countenance.....helping them look more like the divine countenance of God.

It speaks of the part we play in helping one another through our interactions, sharing of knowledge and wisdom aid one another to look more like our heavenly Father....when we do life together we are to constantly be bucket fillers not bucket dippers to one another. Iron sharpeners and not iron blunters...which are we my friend?

We sharpen one another by contributing to each others growth in the Lord...challenging, encouraging and inspiring each other to walk worthy of our calling. This means that we may have to address things in each other that is not glorifying of God but doing it also in a manner that glorifies Him...That is why it is important to surround yourself with people who will tell you what you need to hear not just what you want to hear...that is how you grow. People who will call you out and push you to better and greater for God.

The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek God; God is in none of his thoughts Psalms God fearing relationships

God will be the focus of thoughts, actions and lives...serving Him, bringing Him glory and living for Him will be what is done together....if the company we keep aren't helping us do this beloved do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.” 1 Corinthians 15:33.

Elenor Roosevelet once said Great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events and small minds discuss people...Discuss ideas beloved.....if people are ever discussed it will be in holding them up in prayer....that is what an iron sharpener does.

An iron sharpener can constantly be found breaking the norms of complacency, taking risks and living fearlessly for Christ.

Let us be found pushing one another to be all we can be for the Kingdom of God..being a building block not a stumbling block...recognising the giftings and potential in each and other praying and celebrating each others ideas and ways that God is using each other...This kind of unity in the body of Christ beloved is what not only advocates loudest for the gospel, but sharpens us and is what pleases our God.
