Our heavenly Father like any good parent desires to be in constant fellowship and communication with us his children and like any other relationship, to develop it we must devote time and be committed to it.
What can initially be an informal relationship grows into something beautifully intimate as we spend time getting to know him, however what can often kill a relationship is when the interest wanes or when it becomes transactional instead of affectionate, when it becomes obligational rather than enjoyable.
Similarly, the Lord knows our hearts and simply yearns that we seek him to enjoy him rather than exploit him.
We are reminded in Psalms 27:4 that we are to seek him to behold his beauty….there is so much to behold when we are in the presence of the Lord but don’t always get to enjoy because we are coming into his presence with our to do lists and chaotic minds.
We come with the griefs and sorrows of our tomorrows and miss out on the fullness of joy that is his presence today Psalm 16:11.
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good… Psalm 34:8…sit with him a while, listen instead of speak, praise him instead of ask of him and trust that as your good Father you need not even speak your needs for he is already aware of it simply delight yourselves in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart Psalm 36:4.
Seek him to behold him beloved ….seek his face before his hand and teach yourself to like David say ‘When You said, “Seek My Face” My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek”.
