Today's scripture tells us that whoever has no rule over his own spirit Is like a city broken down, without walls.
In a city without walls anything can come in and invade, take over and dominate. Beloved your ability to withstand whatever life throws your way is linked to your self control.
We require self control in our walk with the Lord but it has to be learned. As such God can allow an assault course of trials and temptations to come our way to give us the opportunity to train up this ability. We however will never be able to master the ability if we don't learn to exercise the spiritual muscle of self control.
The more you learn to exercise self control the better you get at it....it may still be a challenge but your muscle memory will allow you to apply strategies you’ve learnt to allow you to overcome the challenge. 1 Corinthians 10:13
Reminds us no temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
Self control saves us from many of lifes griefs…we are not quick to be angered, offended or swayed as a result….we also through self control learn to control our flesh.
The flesh is a good servant but a cruel master....Dont allow the flesh to rule your life. The flesh will always repel the Holy Spirit and in turn, it will also repel the favour of God. Self control attracts the favour of God. The favour of God attracts the blessings of God. Self control will always give God more room to fight for your battle and to move on your behalf. As the last fruit of the Spirit, self control is a sure launch pad that will elevate you to new heights with God..
Christians cannot walk worthy of the calling if they don’t possess self control…
